HIV/AIDS
HIV/AIDS is the most common disease in Africa. Between 1999 and 2000 more people died of AIDS in Africa than in all the wars in Africa. Life expectancies in some African countries are rapidly decreasing and the death rates are soaring due to AIDS. HIV/AIDS showed up in Africa around the 1930’s and has been constantly growing. In the 1970's the first epidemic of HIV/AIDS occured. People in Africa have been struggling with the disease to try to find how it can be stopped. It has changed the way people live economically and medically. More than 15 million Africans have died from AIDS in 2007. There is no treatment for HIV/AIDS, people will still continue to suffer emotionally and mentally from the disease for years to come.
