Nelson Mandela's Closing Speech at Durban
Nelson Mandela speaking for his organization 46664.
On Friday, July 15, 2000, Nelson Mandela closed the 13th international AIDS conference in Durban with a speech. Mandela’s main message was that countries and their leaders need to set aside their differences, because it doesn’t matter who wins in the end; what matters is that we come together to make a difference for the better. That difference is to fight HIV/AIDS; not only Africa but throughout the entire world. In Mandela’s speech it was obvious that he was mainly directing his words to the leaders of the countries who may seem like they are focusing on winning fights with each other, rather than winning the fight against HIV/AIDS.
