The World Health Organization (WHO) in the African Region’s main functions include monitoring health situations and trends, providing leadership critical to health and joining other groups when it is considering the health of the people. The World Health Organization is an agency of the United Nations that acts as an authority of the international public health. It was established on April 7, 1948 and is still working with countries to improve their sanitation. Every year World Health Day is celebrated on April 7. The objective of the World Health Organization is"The attainment by all people of the highest possible level of health". The World Health Organization has many health projects that they are working on ontop of their regular obligations they must accomplish. One of their projects is called the Health Promotion where they provide leadership, guidance and technical support in the African Region.
